Europium (Eu) Powder

Europium (Eu) Powder

Europium is a member of the rare earth or lanthanide family. Europium (Eu) Powder has many applications related to optical properties. The remarkable properties of rare earth in this area are linked to their electronic configuration. Europium (Eu) Powder is used as luminophore, a substance which, under the effect of external excitation, emit light (the phenomenon of luminescence). It can be considered that there is always rare earth which response to a given luminescence problem and, in particular, the entire visible spectrum can be covered. Europium is, in particular, used in the protection of banknotes. Moreover, in LCD and plasma TVs, colors are obtained using Europium (Eu) Powder. It is also used in the field of high energy radiation (X-rays, gamma rays, alpha particles, beta, neutrons, etc.), for the purpose of radiography or dosimetry. Europium, in a matrix of strontium carbonate and a metal oxide, allows the powder thus produced to emit visible light for more than 10 hours after irradiation for 10 minutes. Mixed with ink, paint, plastics, it replaces the radioactive promethium.
