Tantalum Carbide (TaC) Nanoparticles

Tantalum Carbide (TaC) Nanoparticles

Tantalum carbide (TaC) is a transitional metal carbide with a black-grey appearance. The crystal structure of TaC belongs to the face-centered cubic (fcc) system. TaC, much like the other transitional metal carbides, presents excellent properties such as outstanding hardness, high melting point, good resistance to chemical attack and thermal shock, high resistance to oxidation, high electrical conductivity, and catalytic activity. The melting point of TaC nanopowder is 3880°C. The electrical conductivity of TaC is found to be 42.1 μΩ cm at 25 °C.The hardness of TaC is approximately 3000 kg/mm2 or 9-10 at Mohs scale at 25°C while modulus elasticity is 537 GPa. Owing to these excellent properties TaC nanoparticles are used in various different application areas such as;
