Chromium Nitride (CrN) Micron Powder

Chromium nitride is a chemical compound of chromium and nitrogen with the formula CrN. Its melting point is nearly 1770℃ and has a density of 5.9 g/cm3. It is very hard, and is extremely resistant to corrosion. Chromium nitride micron powders can be prepared by direct combination of chromium and nitrogen at 800 °C. They can be also synthesized by physical vapor deposition technique such as cathodic arc deposition.  CrN powder is used as a coating material for corrosion resistance and in metal forming and plastic moulding applications. Besides, it is often used on medical implants and tools. CrN is also a valuable component in advanced multicomponent coating systems, such as CrAlN, for hard, wear-resistant applications on cutting tools. In addition, chromium nitride powder has application in fine steel production. Its good mechanical and physical properties make it suitable additive for fine steel. It has anti ferromagnetic property which is used in carbides, and powder metallurgy.
