Scandium Micron Powder

Scandium Micron Powder

Scandium Micron Powder is of huge importance. It is a low-density metal, silver in color and has no record of being toxic. Scandium has Sc3+ valence and reacts with water and air. Metallic scandium was first obtained in the 1930s from the electrolysis of a mixture of potassium, lithium and scandium chlorides. Currently, it can be produced by the reduction of scandium fluoride with metallic calcium. Its properties are similar to those of yttrium, actinium, and lanthanides. It is more abundant in the Sun and some stars than on Earth, where it appears dispersed in other minerals. Due to the high reactivity of the metal and its high cost, there are few uses for this element and its compounds. Its applications are related to the metallurgical industry. With aluminum, scandium forms low-density, high-strength alloys used in aerospace structures and sports equipment. Scandal Iodide (Scl3), when added to mercury vapor from lamps, makes the light similar to sunlight.
