Rare Earth Compound Powder
Rare earth elements are the 15 lanthanide series elements (La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) and yttrium. Scandium is also often considered as a rare earth element since it is found in the same deposits. The compounds of rare earth elements are important materials for various different applications due to their excellent magnetic, optical, and physical properties. These materials can exhibit different crystal structures; however, they generally present mechanical strength, high melting points, and stability. Rare earth compounds can be binary or ternary containing B, Al, F, Fe, Co, and so on. Lanthanum Hexaboride (LaB6), Lanthanum Trifluoride (LaF3), and Yttrium Aluminate (Y3Al5O12) are amongst the available rare earth compounds. These materials are usually found in powder form in nano or micro scales. Application areas of these compounds include; fluorescent materials, lasers, optics, sensors, high strength materials, ceramics, biomedical and catalytic applications.
