Erbium Micron Powder

Erbium Micron Powder has diverse applications. Erbium in its purest form is a malleable, characteristic, shiny silver-colored soft metal. Like other rare earth oxides, erbium has absorption bands in the visible, ultraviolet, and near-infrared range. This property, associated with its electronic structure, gives the pink color to its salts. There are various applications for this metal, which are increasing due to the decrease in the cost of obtaining all rare earth and their chemical compounds since historically it was difficult and expensive to separate them from their sources. Additionally, being malleable by itself, erbium micron powder mixes with vanadium to make it softer and easier to shape, lowering the hardness of the latter and improving its machining. Due to its absorption property, erbium-doped silicon is used in optical amplification applications, since when erbium ions are irradiated with wavelengths around 980 or 1480 nm, they emit light at wavelengths of 1550 nm. For this reason, they are used in laser fibers and optical amplifiers.
