Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles
In recent years, numerous reports on the synthesis of nanocrystalline metal oxides with large surface areas and high reactivity have been presented. MgO with ultrafine, nanoscale particles and high specific surfaces area has shown great promise as destructive adsorbent for toxic chemical agents. Nanoscale MgO exhibits unique optical electronic, magnetic, thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties, due to its characteristic structures. Magnesium oxide (MgO), or magnesia, is a white hygroscopic solid mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium. Magnesium oxide nanoparticles can be used in electronics, catalysis, ceramics, petrochemical products, coatings and many other fields. The potential applications of magnesium oxide nanoparticles can be examplified as high-temperature dehydrating agent used for the production of silicon steel sheet, high-grade ceramic material, electronic industry material, adhesive and additive in the chemical raw material. Also, they can be utilized in fuel additive, cleaner, antistatic agent and corrosion inhibitor. In addition, they can be applied in refractory fiber and refractory material, magnesite-chrome brick, filler for refractory coating, refractory and insulating instrument, electricity, cable, optical material, material for steel-smelting furnace and other high- temperature furnaces, heating material and ceramic base plate.
