Terbium Oxide Micron Powder
Terbium oxide, also called tetraterbium heptaoxide, has the chemical formula Tb4O7 .It has of 7.3 g/cm3, and its melting point is nearly 2410℃. Terbium oxide is also known as diterbium trioxide and tetraterbium heptaoxide. Terbium belongs to Block F, Period 6 and oxygen belongs to the Block P, Period 2 in the periodic table. Terbium oxide micron powders are produced by heating the metal oxalate, and they are used in the preparation of other terbium compounds. Tb4O7 powders have been used as precursors for the synthesis of lanthanide nanophosphors and superconductor materials. In addition, Tb4O7 can be used as analytical reagents for food analysis. Similar to other rare earth oxides, terbium oxide also provides interesting magnetic and optical properties. These properties of Tb4O7 are utilized in magneto-optical glasses and magneto-optical recording materials. Another important aspect of Tb4O7 is its catalytic activity. It is found to be effective for catalytic applications in automobile exhaust converter and oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane.
