Ytterbium Micron Powder

Ytterbium Micron Powder

Ytterbium Micron Powder is of great importance. Ytterbium is a material present in the environment found in minerals such as xenotime, monazite, and gadolinite, which is sold commercially for its production in a laboratory, both for its natural presence and for the difficulty in separating it from pure metal. It is a solid metal present in the family of lantanoids (rare earths) with chemical symbol Yb, with a malleable, ductile and soft physical aspect, good conductor of electricity, silver-white in color, with atomic number 70 and atomic mass of 173.04. Despite being stable, it has the need to remain in a closed container free of air and moisture, as it reacts with both. It is reactive with all of the halogen family forming ytterbium halides, in addition to reacting slowly with cold water and quickly with hot water forming ytterbium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. Its most frequent use is in fiber optic cables and connections.
