Zirconium Nitride (ZrN) Micron Powder
Zirconium nitride is a hard ceramic material and is a cement-like refractory material with the symbol ZrN. Its melting point is nearly 2980℃ and has a density of 7.09 g/cm3. Zirconium nitride micron powders take the form of a yellow crystalline powder or an attractive pale golden colored coating. zirconium nitride exhibits high hardness, high melting point (2980 °C), good thermal conductivity (45–50 W/mK), low electrical resistivity, good abrasive resistance and good corrosion resistance. Zirconium nitride has excellent erosion resistance and exhibits high hardness, good lubricity and ductility. These properties also make it an attractive coating material. Therefore, zirconium nitride is used as a hard coating for machine tools like drill bits and burs which these coatings are deposited by physical vapor deposition. Thus, it is used in refractories, cermet and laboratory crucibles. When applied using the physical vapor deposition coating process, it is commonly used for coating medical devices, industrial parts (notably drill bits), automotive and aerospace components and other parts subject to high wear and corrosive environments.
