Niobium Micron Powder
Niobium, also known as columbium, is a chemical element with the symbol Nb and has the atomic number of 41. Niobium is a rare, soft, malleable, ductile, gray-white metal. It has a body-centered cubic crystalline structure and in its physical and chemical properties it resembles tantalum. Niobium micron powder finds itself in various applications such as electronics, alloy-making, and medical due to its desirable chemical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Niobium powder is an effective microalloying element which is used in steelmaking, and highly used in production of superalloys and high-entropy alloys. Niobium is used in prosthetics and implant devices, such as pacemakers because it is physiologically inert and hypoallergenic. Besides, niobium powders are required as a raw material, in the fabrication of electrolytic capacitors. In addition, niobium micron powder is also used in its pure form to make superconducting accelerating structures for particle accelerators. Niobium powders are used in making alloys which are used in surgical implants because they do not react with human tissue.
