Tantalum Carbide (TaC) Micron Powder

Tantalum Carbide (TaC) Micron Powder

Tantalum carbide is a chemical compound of tantalum and carbon with the empirical formula TaC. Its melting point is nearly 3880℃ and has a density of 14.6 g/cm3. Tantalum carbide micron powders have higher hardness, melting point, wear resistance and low thermal expansion coefficient and high temperature elevated strength. Tantalum carbide powders are suitable to cut a variety of materials (when they are shaped) such as gray cast iron, ductile nodular iron, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys. Also, Tantalum carbide powder coatings are used industrially for wear protection of steel molds employed in injection cast molding of aluminum and aluminum alloys. High speed tool steels for machining are coated with tantalum carbide powders and are used in high speed milling machine. Moreover, tantalum carbide powders are desirable for market applications such applications as boost rocket motor nozzles that require high thermal shock resistance. In the commercial sectors, tantalum carbide micron powders have potential application as a material used for cutting tools and wear parts.
