Titanium Diboride (TiB2) Nanoparticles

Titanium Diboride (TiB2) Nanoparticles

Titanium Diboride (TiB2) nanoparticles are a member of transition metal di-borides. The structure of TiB2 nanoparticles is found to be hexagonal. The appearance of TiB2 nanoparticles is powdery and dark-grey colored. Transition metal di-borides exhibit both metal-like and ceramic-like properties. The combination of metal and ceramic behavior results in extremely high melting points, good mechanical strength, excellent thermal and electrical properties, good refractoriness, high resistance to wear and oxidation. The melting point of TiB2 is 3225°C, the hardness id around 25-35 GPa and the elastic modulus is around 560 GPa. TiB2 shows a thermal conductivity of 60-120 W/mK while electrical resistivity of 9-15 μΩ.cm. TiB2 can resist oxidative environments up to 1000°C. These excellent properties of TiB2 nanoparticles make them great candidates for;
