Carbon (Pyrolytic Graphite) Sputtering Targets

Carbon (Pyrolytic Graphite) Sputtering Targets

Pyrolytic graphite is one of several types of carbon that is not found in nature but made through the decomposition of a hydrocarbon gas at a very high temperature in a vacuum furnace. This type of carbon has extraordinary properties for thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, magnetic properties. In terms of thermal conductivity, it is a good material for scientific mirrors for elemental analysis measurements. Carbon (pyrolytic graphite) sputtering targets are a perfect coating for thermal and mechanical properties due to its durability, chemical, and wear resistance. It is used for several applications in electronic thermal management (e.g. thermal-interface materials, heat spreaders, and heat sinks). A carbon pyrolytic graphite coating can also be used to coat graphite cuvette tubes in graphite furnace atomic absorption furnaces to reduce heat stress and increase cuvette lifetimes.
