Indium Nanoparticles and Applications of Indium Nanopowders

General Information about Indium

Indium is a chemical element with symbol In and atomic number 49. Indium is a very soft and malleable element. Indium is most notably used in the semiconductor industry, in low-melting-point metal alloys such as solders, in soft-metal high-vacuum seals, and in the production of transparent conductive coatings of indium tin oxide (ITO) on glass.

Indium Nanoparticles and Their Applications

Like many nanoparticles Indium nanoparticles are used in different areas. For example, Indium nanoparticles can be used in semiconducting materials that are used for electronic devices and other materials like solar cells. In LCD panels also Indium nanopowders are used. Indium nanopowders can be added into welding alloy in order to lower the melting point of the alloy. Indium nanoparticles can also be used as combustion improver for rocket fuel.
